Week 3 of Field Goods

Last week I put my Field Goods bag on hold since I wasn’t going to be home in time to pick it up. I got my third bag this past week. There are lots of delicious vegetables this week!

The garlic scapes are the oddest things. They are the curly green stalks in the top of the picture. They are actually the stems of garlic. Garlic scapes can be used just like a bulb of garlic and taste the same. Cut them up and throw them in the food processor with some olive oil for a garlic paste that can flavor any dish!

Garlic itself, along with garlic scapes, have loads of health benefits. It is rich in antioxidents and may help prevent build up of plaque on artery walls, reducing chances of developing athrosclrerosis.

Weekly Flowers, too?

My Flower Scout CSA also began this week. Every week I get a beautiful bouquet of locally grown flowers. I love it. The subscription was a birthday present to myself. In the bouquet this week were poppies, delphinium, mint, sweet pea, blueberry branches, wild white yarrow, tweedia and baby’s breath. It is gorgeous and really brightens my day when I look at them!
